Pat McDermott speaks to young professionals at Boston Rotaract event
BOSTON, Mass. – Norfolk County Register of Probate Patrick W. McDermott was the featured speaker at the final meeting of the Boston Rotaract Club last Thursday. The Rotaract is a Rotary International-affiliated group of young professionals focused on community service and engagement.
“Young professionals help drive our state economy, from our yearly influx of the college-bound to families looking to get their start here,” said Register McDermott. “We need policies and politicians who reach out this next generation of taxpayers and welcome them in.”
McDermott encouraged the Rotaract members to consider public service as an area of both professional and personal fulfilment, and mentioned volunteer opportunities within the Norfolk County Family and Probate Court young professionals could engage in.
“The people who volunteer their time at the Probate Court come from the fields of law, social work, education and more,” McDermott said. “It’s because of these incredible volunteers that we can offer the services we do on the slim budget we have.”
McDermott sits on the Board of Directors for the Quincy Rotary Club and is a regular speaker at service organizations across the state. In May, McDermott was honored with the American Spirit of Justice Award for his outreach within the legal community.
